Creative Labs will not be receiving any of my money

Posted by Ryan Grange on April 2, 2008

I remember a time when the Sound Blaster was the sound card to have. Everything else had to claim to be compatible with it to be bought. Creative Labs has, as a company, fallen a long way down from that mountain top. A Brazilian named Daniel took the time to fix Creative Labs’ Vista drivers when CL’s own programmers seemed unable to make them work. If we take a certain CL VP at their word, CL purposely crippled their sound cards on Vista in an attempt to wring more money out of their customer base. I refuse to purchase products from such a company. (For those who think Microsoft is off the hook here, I install Linux on my personally built systems.) Wired has a message from “Daniel_K” on the situation. CL appears to have removed the original post from there site (or at least I can’t find any links to the original top post of the thread), but many sites have copied the text of that VP, including the site Awful Marketing.
